Product Overview
Calmagite is a metallochromic indicator commonly used in complexometric titrations to detect divalent metal ions such as calcium (Ca²⁺), magnesium (Mg²⁺), and other transition metals. It is structurally similar to Eriochrome Black T and is particularly valuable in procedures involving EDTA titrations, where it forms a colored complex with metal ions that changes upon chelation.
When used in alkaline conditions, Calmagite shifts color from red (metal-bound form) to blue (free form) at the titration endpoint, providing a clear and accurate visual indication. It is highly effective in determining water hardness, analyzing metal content in industrial and environmental samples, and in quality control labs.
