Product Overview
o-Cresolphthalein, also known as ortho-Cresolphthalein, is a phenolphthalein-type pH indicator and metal complexation reagent widely used in clinical and analytical chemistry. It exhibits a distinct color change from colorless to reddish-purple over the pH range of 8.2 to 9.8, making it suitable for monitoring alkaline titrations.
This compound is best known for its use in the o-Cresolphthalein Complexone (OCPC) method for the colorimetric determination of calcium in biological fluids. In this application, o-Cresolphthalein forms a violet-colored complex with calcium ions in alkaline solution, allowing accurate photometric quantification in clinical assays and diagnostic kits.
