Science Saves Lives—But Only If We Fund It
From the Desk of our CEO Liz Geisleman
When Research Funding Disappears, Lives Are at Stake. Science isn’t just about data and discoveries—it’s about people. My cousins, Drs. Obi and Malachi Griffith, have dedicated their lives to cancer research, developing groundbreaking tools to personalize treatments and save lives. But now, their work—and the work of countless scientists across the country—is under threat. (https://griffithlab.org/)
The proposed NIH funding cuts don’t just slow down progress; they put real lives in danger. These cuts threaten cancer breakthroughs, Alzheimer’s research, and treatments for diseases that have touched every family, including my own.
I lost my father to melanoma. My mother is battling Parkinson’s. I have too many friends who have fought breast cancer, lymphoma, and other devastating illnesses. The idea that the research that could have helped them—or could save millions in the future—is at risk because of a funding decision is simply unacceptable.
We cannot afford to let politics stall life-saving medical progress. We must stand up for the future of science, innovation, and the countless families depending on these breakthroughs.
If you care about the future of medical research, speak up. Support scientists. Support funding. Support the work that could save all of us one day.
