Kinyoun’s Carbol Fuchsin is a specially formulated primary stain used in the Kinyoun acid-fast staining method—a “cold” alternative to the traditional Ziehl–Neelsen technique. Designed for the detection of acid-fast bacteria such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis, this formulation contains higher concentrations of basic fuchsin and phenol, allowing for effective penetration of mycolic acid–rich cell walls without the need for heat.
