Amido Black is effective in enhancing latent prints contaminated with blood but does not develop normal perspiration-based prints. It detects proteins found in blood and certain body fluids, leaving a blue-black stain visible on both porous and nonporous surfaces.

 

This general protein stain enhances patterns in blood, including ridge detail and footwear impressions. While Amido Black reacts broadly with proteins, not specifically blood, its application results in dark blue to black staining that increases contrast and visibility of patterns, facilitating easier documentation.
